1. How can we maintain an aquatic center when the splash pad at Williams Park continues to fail?

The splash pad was built in 2016, and some parts have exceeded their life expectancy due to extended seasons. In addition, the Town is exploring possible errors with installation in 2024.

To address this issue, the aquatic center will have an Asset Management Plan to identify and budget any necessary replacement parts. In addition, there will be additional oversight during construction with full-time inspections.  

2. How many lifeguards will be needed to staff this facility?

The indoor pool can operate with a minimum of 3 lifeguards and the outdoor pool can operate with a minimum of 13 lifeguards.

3. How will the facility be staffed?

The Town of Brownsburg is exploring various staffing options, including the possibility of utilizing a third-party staffing service. Such a service would offer access to a broader pool of job candidates in and around Brownsburg while also providing onboarding support. This would allow the park staff to focus on other important tasks and priorities.

4. How will the Town of Brownsburg address the water quality?

Per Indiana Department of Environmental Management regulations, Brownsburg is obligated to submit monthly, quarterly, and annual water samples for testing by certified labs. This ensures that the water supplied to our community is safe and clean. The Brownsburg Water Quality report for 2022 can be accessed online (PDF), which has no violations reported. Additionally, the Hendricks County Health Department will regularly monitor the pool's chemical levels, through annual, monthly, and weekly inspections and water tests to ensure its safety.

5. How will the capacity of the facility be managed?

The Town of Brownsburg is still determining the best way to manage the capacity of the facility. The front desk will have multiple staff members to monitor attendance and usage. It may be possible to have both indoor and outdoor pools in operation during the busy summer season, if needed.

6. How will the aquatic center integrate with existing community programs and initiatives?

This facility provides ample opportunities to collaborate with local businesses to extend services like swim lessons and scuba diving classes. The multi-purpose rooms can be programmed to serve various needs. Furthermore, the concession stand offers additional opportunities for community partnerships. In 2019, we successfully taught over 480 number of children how to swim. We intend to continue offering these programs to educate our community and provide life-saving resources.

7. How will the facility stay secure?

The indoor facility will feature an access management security system similar to other Town facilities. The outdoor pool will feature a fence around the facility.
