AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION (AHA) CPR and First Aid Training Classes

The Brownsburg Fire Territory provides CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications based on the American Heart Association Classes and Guidelines.  Students who successfully complete their course will be provided with an e-card, valid for two years.

STEP ONE: AHA Online Course


THE AHA CHANGED TO A NEW CURRICULUM AND ALL COURSES MUST BE 2020 (NOT 2015) VERSION.  THE COURSE VERSION IS LOCATED IN THE UPPER RIGHT-HAND AREA OF THE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE.

CERTIFICATES FROM THE ON-LINE CLASS PORTION MUST BE DATED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF THE IN-PERSON SKILLS TESTING

IF YOUR COURSE INCLUDES MODULES FOR "CHILD" AND/OR "INFANT", CHECK THE CERTIFICATE TO ENSURE THESE MODULES SHOW COMPLETED.

Review the descriptions outlined below to determine your preferred course.  Costs for this portion are paid directly to the American Heart Association.  The online course allows the student to work at their own pace and to become comfortable with the information.


STEP TWO: In-Person Practice/Skills Testing

Contact the Division Chief of EMS via Email to schedule in-person practice/skills testing >>

Students who have completed the online course portion will be able to print a certificate needed for STEP TWO which is an in-person skills test with an AHA Certified Instructor.  Each session must be scheduled, are 30 minutes long, allow for an initial Q&A/practice session, and conclude by demonstrating the skills learned.  Testing is held at the Brownsburg Fire Territory HQ located 470 East Northfield Drive in Brownsburg, IN 46112.   Exact cash (no petty cash kept for change) or personal check accepted made out to "The Brownsburg Fire Territory."

BLS for Healthcare Providers...$10.00

AVAILABLE COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

Heartsaver Classes (for the layperson, teacher, daycare provider, etc.)

Heartsaver courses are intended for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory, or other requirements. These courses can be completed by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency.

Heartsaver CPR AED

This class is for the layperson, not a health care provider. It covers adult, child, and infant CPR along with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and choking rescue for all ages.

Heartsaver First Aid

This class only covers first aid topics. If you need CPR and AED, you will need to take the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

This class is for the layperson (not a health care provider) that covers adult, child, and infant CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), chocking rescue for all ages, as well as First Aid.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

This class is for the layperson, not a health care provider. This class only teaches children and infant CPR, AED, and first aid. It does not include Adult CPR, AED, or first aid.

Basic Life Support Class (for healthcare providers)

This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other necessary cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS)

This class is for health care providers, including nurses, EMT's, CNA's, and Doctors. This two-year certification meets most requirements for the profession.
